Browse tree without changing list

Hi all,
Please forgive a new poster in case the answer to my question is astoundingly obvious.

I'd like to browse the tree without changing the list - and only update the list when I press Enter (similar to the way Explorer on Windows 8 works).

Can't seem to find a way to do this - any tips?

If you expand and collapse the tree nodes by clicking on the +'s and -'s the list doesn't change.

Ah, sorry, should have been more specific. I meant browsing the tree with my keyboard (not mouse), so browsing requires selecting the folders I want to collapse/expand.

Interesting. Did not know Explorer works this way now (Win 8.1). It did not in earlier Windows versions.

But: No, this behavior is not supported in XY, and I don't plan to add it. I find it a bit confusing.
