I noticed that images of a camera where I have set the aspect ratio of the images to 16:9 get buggy thumbnails. It appears as if XYplorer first adds black bars on the top and the bottom of the image to make it a 4:3 aspect ratio, and then squeezes the resulting image into a 16:9 thumbnail.
The original dimensions of the following file are 3648x2052 pixels
And this is the preview

Re: Thumbnails of 16:9 images get squeezed vertically and ba
This phenomenon has been reported a number of times in the past and never did XYplorer turn out to be the cause.
Please turn off Configuration > Thumbnails > Super-fast thumbnails and see if this changes it. If yes then probably your camera created the black bars in the embedded thumbnails.
