Hmm, "Quick Select", that would have probably a better name than "Flat Select"...

You know "Quick Select" was how I referred to it in my original wish. Instead you waited for Marco to wish something similar (probably keyword alerts for Beyoncè!admin wrote:Hmm, "Quick Select", that would have probably a better name than "Flat Select"...

Well.
The good thing about Flat Select: FS was still free, whereas QS is already used for Quick Search.

Yes, this is still on my mind, spinning... is there anybody out there who has good reasons to prefer "Flat Select" to "Quick Select"? Speak now! Otherwise I would change it...

Recycle: FS => Fast Select ?
QSL is very odd in that its abbrev for "Select" is very different from what its buddies use.

The important thing here is the analogy to Quick Search.
Odd acronyms don't give me many headaches.

My $ 0.02 on it: I don't like Flat Select.
FastSelect, SpeedSelect, DirectSelect, InstantSelect, no complaints about QuickSelect either.

Flat and Select don't sound right together. No ring.

Re: Flat Select vs Quick Select
You know... the original impetus for using Quick Select was the impression that many of the goto shortcuts are named similarly.
However, looking back at the documentation it is only Quick Search and Quick Visual Filters - and only the former gets the acronym treatment.
None of the other shortcuts use the Quick prefix: Spot & Jump, DOS commands, Alias. For a brief time in history we had Quick Scripting but that fell out of favor when the related option was hard-coded to on.
As it shares syntax with Spot & Jump maybe it should just be lumped in with them, Spot, Jump, & Select? Though I'd suggest actually making it Jump, Spot, & Select (JSS) - this way it helps remind the user how many '>' they need for each feature.
