Personal note: I find hiding extensions a totally weird and potentially dangerous thing to do. I would go so far and say: Don't do it!

Re: Views: Remove ext from the name column
This is a tip I read about a long time ago. The rationale was that the extension gives some clue as to when the file is going to do when you click on it. For example, if you get an email with an attachment called "KatyPerryImage.jpeg" then you might click on it, but if you can see that the real name is "KatyPerryImage.jpeg.EXE," then you might NOT click it.admin wrote:Personal note: I find hiding extensions a totally weird and potentially dangerous thing to do. Maybe there are other big reasons too though (?)
EDIT: I suppose that an "email attachment" example wouldn't apply to XYplorer per se, but to the equivalent Windows setting.

in the olden days, this was largely reponsible for seeking an alternative File Manager.

The extension doesn't only give you a clue about what type the file is - the extension even is a part of the file name
So I'm 100% with Don's saying!
