No Target shown for Symbolic links

Post by rgbigel »

Version 14.80.200, Windows 7
For symbolic links, the field containing Junction Target is empty and Shortcut is empty too. I found no way to show the target path for Symlinks.
This is the case both for custom property columns AND in the property display when hovering on the item; it does not matter if I hover on the tree or the list.
The Icon showing for the symlinks are correctly indicating the symlink.
For "normal" junctions, the field "Junction Target" is correct.
Btw., I find no indication that XYPlorer is making a distinction between SymLinks and Junctions (although there should be: see explanations on LinkShellExtension tool) -- except for this bug.

I'm a total newbee for XYPlorer, so excuse me if I'm just being daft. Yes, I did check help and board for all the terms.

Thanks for your answer, Rolf

Huh, Junction Target property column is always empty for me, even for junctions (though the same property is good when displayed in info tip of both junctions and symlinks)

btw, Symbolic Link targets are displayed if you set the property "Link Target" in a column.

@SammaySarkar: I had your "huh" observation once as well. To get around that, I found that it makes a difference how it's done. If you go through "configure custom columns", then Add column, select custom column: it will work and the Junction Target is shown. I do not remember the steps when it did not show for me.

Symbolic Link targets still do not show for me in the Link Target column, no matter what I do.

Indeed, the Junction Target property column was always empty for me too! Fix comes.

I have to create a custom column then set the property to link target; I don't notice anything different ?
