XYplorer occasional crashing in Win XP

HI, not sure if this is right place to post this, but here is info

XYPlorer 13.00 Crashed (it saved details in appcompat.txt, which I grabbed before OS deleted it).
Crashed after I had saved a file from main HD to one of two Flash drives I was working to update.
Strangely, there are two Taskbar iconbuttons for XYplorer "My Computer". Though just the one Task Manager PID for XYplorer. And this is after the crash, they are still there, though the XYplorer gui is unresponsive. So I will force quit and restart.

Windows XP Pro SP3, Dell Vostro 220 C2D, 4 GB RAM

P.S. : I am registered lifetime user. :)
P.S.1: the flash drives I am working with are OK, as Windows File manager continues to read and write to them OK, and I ran a Disk check and they report OK, "Windows has checked the file system and found no problems."

(Just FYI, re. I've been using XYP v13.00 (and v 10.80, 11.90 and 12.90 before that) because they've had fewer GUI changes than latest versions, thus looking more like the interface I am used to & comfortable with. I tried an install of one of the newer latest releases, and it seemed just too much work for me at the time to get it to look the way I wanted. Sorry, I'm sure its me...)

P.S.3: It has crashed on me several times in last two months, usually when working with external drives file maintenance.
Last crash: 2/12/2015
XYPlorer 12.90 crashed
Crashed on first time opening it today. PC Win XP Pro SP3, one internal, two external USB NTFS hard drives, directly connected via mobo USB ports on back of Vostro 220.
Crashed again after a relaunching it.
Strange, as I have been running v12.90 OK for a while, and have had a variety of external drives plugged in, or not plugged in, some directly, some via my D-Link 7-port hub. I will probably update to v 13 and see how it goes.)

There's been some crashes fixed in the 17 months since 13.00 was released, including a couple that were caused by Microsoft patches.

I hate to tell you this but I think you're going to have to bite the bullet and adjust to a more recent version. Assuming the crash still exists in the current version any patch to fix it will likely only be available in the newest version.


The good news is there's been a ton of fantastic new features added since 13.00 that you'll get to explore!
I'd suggest starting with taking a look at the new layout options that are now available: http://xyplorer.com/release_14.20.htm#Layout

If you can be more specific about what it is about 13.00 that you miss we might be able to help minimize the adjustment pains. ;)
