Hi,
Does XY have an option where you type part of a filename in the files list and it jumps to the first match?
This currently works for the beginning of the filename (you start typing text and it jumps to the file BEGINNING WITH what you typed) , but it is also useful where the text you want is in the middle of the filename.
Especially useful where there is a long list of files and you don't want to open the F3 SEARCH
Thanks

Yup, what you're looking for is under Tools->Configuration->Menus,Mouse,Safetyflyingrhino wrote:Hi,

Make sure "Enable type ahead find" is checked (sounds like it is), and change the option below it -- I use "Prefer matches at beginning (but only for single-characters)
I also like the "Highlight matches" option.
I hope this helps!

Re: Type part of a filename in list to jump to file
Thanks for that, works like a charm
I love XY and the community of XY'ers who have the same passion of ultra-efficiency
Getting greedy now - Can I use the same type ahead idea , and the files list becomes smaller as only the matches show up ?
Basically in the files list itself, type part of a name and it removes non-matches. Something like a real-time grep
Thanks,

What you're asking for is what we call Live Filter for the list, and though it's on Don's list of things to come, it's not here at this point.flyingrhino wrote:Thanks for that, works like a charm

However, SammaySarkar has created an AutoHotKey script that will automatically live filter the list, and it works quite well! I've bound it to Ctrl-` on my system (though I generally find that just using type-ahead find (TAF) works for most of what I'm doing).
Here's a link to the thread with Sammay's script:

Good luck!
