When I mouse down on .jpg/.tif /.txt files, the preview displays for a short moment. When I mouse down again, the preview window is properly displayed.
Is this a bug? (14.80.0204 zip version)

Re: mouse down flashes preview
Hi tona, possibly what you're experiencing is more than likely Mouse Down Blow Up (MDBU) and it's a feature not a bug. A great feature once you understand it and configure it properly. You can set both your normal left mouse click and the right mouse click to bring an image up on the screen by clicking on the file's icon, thumbnail or tile. You can configure your left button to click once and keep the image up on the screen until you click again and if you like you can set your right mouse button to blow up the image only as long as you're holding down the button. Too much to talk about all the MDBU features here. All the information is already there in Help. Search for "Mouse Down Blow Up". Take a look in the menu under Tools | Configuration | Preview | Mouse Down Blow Up and from that alone you'll get a handle on what I'm talking about. Good luck and have fun. Let us know if that's not the issue.

Re: mouse down flashes preview
The MDBU is configured for left mouse down. Right mouse is unchecked in the options. "Shrink to fit" and "border" are also checked.
Problem is that a left mouse down only displays the preview for a short moment when performed the first time on a file. Releasing the mouse and doing a left mouse down again displays the preview as long as the mouse is down, as intended.

Re: mouse down flashes preview
Possibly you have a conflict. What is your setting in Configuration | General | Menu, Mouse Safety for "Single Click on icon opens list items"? Next I would check the Portable or Customized File Associations (PFAs) and see if you have a conflict (i.e., a PFA that may be established which opens those file types).
Re: mouse down flashes preview
"Single Click on icon opens list items" is unchecked.
I'm not sure what to check in Customize File Associations. The CFA has 4 unchecked entries, I never did change anything there. The .jpg are opened with windows photo viewer.
I also checked the freeware 14.80 zip version. It has the same flashing behaviour on first mouse down, works on the second time mousedown.
But in this version some of the .jpg previews do not close when mouse-down is released, I need to click again in the picture. Mouse down again on the same file sometimes does repeat this behaviour, sometimes the MDBU works as intended.

Re: mouse down flashes preview
If you hold the mouse down on the file icon for longer than 150 ms AND setting "On file icons as well" (Mouse Down Blow Up) is ticked THEN you get the blow up.

Re: mouse down flashes preview
I understand. I like this functionality very much as it works just fine on my other systems.admin wrote:If you hold the mouse down on the file icon for longer than 150 ms AND setting "On file icons as well" (Mouse Down Blow Up) is ticked THEN you get the blow up.
But this is what happens on my PC at work:
-I hold the mouse down on the file icon (and keep it down): blow up appears for a short time, about 0.1 seconds.
-Release the mouse button.I hold down the mouse button again (and keep it down): blow up appears as long as I hold the mouse down.
and what I have occasionaly seen at my workPC:
-I hold the mouse down on the file icon (and keep it down): blow up appears for a short time, about 0.1 seconds.
-Release the mouse button.I hold down the mouse button again (and keep it down): blow up appears as long as I hold the mouse down and stays when I release the mouse button.
-Clicking with the left mouse button in the blow up window causes the window to disappear.
( "On file icons as well" is ticked.)
Re: mouse down flashes preview
Is it possible there are other file operations going on in the same folder?
Or is it perhaps a folder being mirrored with Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive, or another program that might trigger a refresh?
I've noticed that MDBU on files in my Dropbox can sometimes be difficult as XY closes the preview if Dropbox triggers a list refreshing in XY. (Especially bad when overlay icons are enabled.)
You can test for this case by either disabling View | Auto-Refresh or enabling View | Suspend Auto-Refresh.

Re: mouse down flashes preview
Disabling View|AutoRefresh makes all the difference, MDBU now works!
There are no file operations going on in the same folder. That is, not that I'm aware of. This is a company PC, I dont know the exact setup as it is maintained by the IT department, but dropbox/google drive etc. are not installed.
Can it be the antivirus software? (McAfee). Also Citrix is installed, can that interfere somehow?
Thanks

Re: mouse down flashes preview
Interesting info. In the next beta I will suppress list auto-refresh while MDBU is on. This should handle the issue.

Re: mouse down flashes preview
FYI, I'm running latest beta (15.00.0400) on Win 7 32-bit. I have the same issue as tona, but evidently only on my C: drive which is why I didn't notice it earlier. As with tona, disabling AutoRefresh prevents the problem from happening. I too have McAfee running (can't disable it). There are no visible changes happening in the folder with the images. I dropped back to v15.00.0205; same thing there.

You mean despite my change from http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic. ... 83#p118083 ??

Re: mouse down flashes preview
Yes. The behavior persists in v15.00.400. Again, it happens only on my C: drive and only once per image. Thus not a big deal for me, so I marked it FYI; just thought you might want to know since you had made an effort to cure it.admin wrote:You mean despite my change from http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic. ... 83#p118083 ??
