Is there a built-in command to copy all selected files to the tab currently showing in the inactive pane?
I keep feeling like the two-pane deal is like an ftp application (with local on one side, remote on the other), and that I should be able to just drag from one pane to the other to copy it. Trying to figure this out is sort of a first step in simulating that.
It *might* be nice to have an "always copy files when dragged from one pane to the other" mode...

I just drag selected files to any tab header - is this what you want?
Is there a problem?

Yes, one of those little "gems of perfectness": tab headers are drop targets.
I use them almost all the time for every copy/move operation between/onto tabs.

Use Main menu -> Panes -> Move/Copy/Backup to other pane. Default shortcuts are SHIFT/CTRL/CTRL+SHIFT + F6
