Please note, this thread presumes User has ►OS Microsoft XP.
I've tried plumbing the Help File for this but I can't seem to locate the line(s) I need to paste into XY's .ini file -and- in which field, if required. Thanks.

Re: [DIMENSIONS COLUMN] Possible to add the column globally?
you mean you want the dimension column to show up on all tabs always?
AFAIK, there's no way to make only particular columns permanent ^. You can only save the complete columnset. But you can have different columns for different location or list modes.
You could activate that column then select (from main menu) View->Folder View Settings->define this folder view as default.
You could try to follow this method (it enables showing the Path column in find mode) : http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=12743 adjust for your dim. column and adjust all modes. (ListBrowse+ListFind+ListNetwork+ListDrives+ListRecycler)
^ Hmm, that makes for a very good wish.

No. Always available to all tabs, and a simple text modification to the XYplorer.ini file to globally display the column when any tab matches foo.

I see I'll need to edit the lead post. The option to display the DIMENSIONS column — and a surprising number of other column display options — is an ►OS feature available in Windows XP, and the option to display DIMENSIONS globally by using XP's ►make all other folders display like this one. I have to keep remembering that I am a member of an OS subset (XP) that diminishes daily!! That — and Mac, Linux users. This thread presumes the User has XP, sorry for the confusion.

I'm not sure I understand. Why wouldn't (every OS) user want (every) column attribute the OS makes natively available accessible to him?

I don't need to run a script to view and set the DIMENSION column's display options in XP. I either want a folder (or all folders) to vest the column or I don't. View the graphic below to see a partial list of column options. And observe that I've sorted DIMENSIONS by . . . er, their dimensions lol . . .

I was talking about XY's visible column saving functionality. Btw, XY does make all native columns available.semicodin wrote:I'm not sure I understand. No such xyini mods possible.semicodin wrote:Always available to all tabs, and a simple text modification to the

You could look into the Folder View Settings feature.
You can activate the dimensions column in XY by right clicking a column header. Right click the Name column header. Experiment with the menu items.
Anyways, I'm not an expert on XY's display settings, half of what I've said has probably added more confusion...

I must be dense then because the option doesn't appear to me (right-click or menu). Explain?SammaySarkar wrote:XY does make all native columns available.

Re: [DIMENSIONS COLUMN] Possible to add the column globally?
Sorry, custom columns are not available in the free version.

XY is expensive, but it's worth the cost.TheQwerty wrote:Sorry, custom columns are not available in the free version.
TIP: Get the "Pro Lifetime" version if Don still offers it. Also, if you're strapped for cash, you can monitor ditsdujour. XY usually goes on sale there once or twice a year...

I do consider the Lifetime License a real bargain. But yes, depends on the specific functional demands (scripting etc.).

Re: [DIMENSIONS COLUMN] Possible to add the column globally?
I should point out that the pricing for XY is not overly high when compared to competing products. Given the free upgrades, it's actually a bargain compared to some... To me though, spending 70 or 80 USD on ANYTHING is difficult. (Can't find an emoticon for "Ima cheapo" so I'll just put this fried egg here
)
