Portable Paper Folders

Post by lead »

If i have a paper folder whit this "D:\New Folder\note.txt" in my USB and I move to another computer in which my drive is "E:\", the content in the paper folder will disappear.

I use Paper Folder to list my portable programs in my USB, but is useless if they disappear when I move to another computer.

Would be nice if I can use "?", like in PFA, to make the Paper Folder independent of the local drive mappings.

"?" points to the drive of XYplorer.exe -- this won't help here.

Instead one could think about using volume labels (like Configuration | Controls and More | Miscellaneous | Support volume labels in paths), or some other new syntax. Have to think about it...

Well, "?" works, but only with .exe files, because I have all my portable programs in my USB, included XY. But other files cannot be opened, nor the file icons be seen.

Volume levels does not work at all in Paper Folderat the moment, only works on the address bar.I can have zombies for now and I rename the patches from the .txt. That is the best solution for me now.

I decided to keep PF as simple as is now. So, that's a "no" to Portable Paper Folders.

I think that is fine, that is OK. But you already said that we have that feature:
Paper Folders. Paper Folders are a ground-breaking new implementation of virtual folders. Fast, light-weight, easy-to-use, portable.
And in the help file:
What's the Use of Paper Folders
· You can share them, and carry them along on a stick.
But they will never be portable.

At list I have a workaround.

Well, they are portable, but not in the smart way (namely with the option to refer to *this* drive in a soft way) known from other XY features. I agree it would be nice to have. And I will probably add it some day.
