Replace Standard Open/Save Dialogs

I have recently bended down for the pressure and is now gradually replacing my userfriendly WinXP with Win7. This means that I need a usable filemanager, and XY is pt. the favourite.
But unfortunately XY does not replace the open/save dialogs, so these are still cluttered and slow to use.
I write here because I guess the users here also want smooth and logical file management, and have used Win7 for a long time.
So, my question is:
Is it possible to get usable open/save dialogs in Win7?
To be more specific, I want the tree triangles replaced with +/-, and I want dotted tree lines, and the hiccup to be cured, so the tree expands in a normal way.
And most important ! I want all the silly "my favorites", "my funny pictures", "libraries" ect. folders and links to completely disappear from my pc.
I have searched a lot on the internet to find solutions, but have not found any that works without giving other trouble.
Please help me if you have found any good solutions.
And to the moderator: Feel free to move or remove this post, if it is found inappropriate

These dialogs are provided by Windows itself not Windows Explorer and cannot be replaced by XYplorer.

Thanks a lot for the links. Interesting reading, but sad, since it seems that the crabby Win7 dialogs are not easy to get rid of.
Well, if I can get rid of all the silly "My very helpful folder shortcut" folders, cluttering the dialogs it will be a large step in increasing the usability.
I wonder if M$ has learned the lesson, and start making improvements instead of changes in Win10. Probably not
