Copy Item Path/Name doesn't work correctly in network shares

Post by Chris21 »

On a local drive, hitting CTRL+P (copy item path/name) does copy the path to the current folder if no item has been selected in the current pane. However this doesn't work when browsing a network share. In this case nothing happens.

Mh, when I'm on e.g. \\BK-DT-01\Storage (one of the shared folders on that machine), Ctrl + p copies the path of it correctly (no folder or file selected)...

Btw, Don:
Is there a reason why Ctrl + p without any selection returns a path with a trailing backslash, but Ctrl + p on a selected folder does not?

You're right. Just tried it again. Works for me on my system. I will try it on another installation where I experienced the problem earlier. But maybe there's an older version installed. I will post the results next week.

Maybe you get an path with trailing slash because XYplorer appends the name of the selected item to the current path. So when nothing is selected the selected item is "". So you actually copy Path\"" to clipboard. That's my theory. :)

One sees a folder as a path (slashed), the other sees a folder as an item (unslashed).

Like <curpath> when a list item is not highlighted and <curitem> when it is. No, that's not true.

Ok, tried it on the other computer. It doesn't work there. Instead the clipboard stays unchanged.
Are there any steps I should try, any settings to change or logs to send?

Are you sure Ctrl + P is assigned to Copy Path in that instance?

Yep, double checked that.

I think I got the reason.

"View > Mini Tree > Mini Tree" is responsible for that. If checked copying the path works. If unchecked something different get copied.

I think this is related to the fact that the networking section won't be displayed in the mini tree if this option has been unchecked. Then some other node gets selected which will be copied to the clipboard.

Yep, you got it. A bug.

BTW, you can show the network in the maxi tree by ticking this:
Configuration | Tree and List | Items in Tree and List | Show Network folder
