v14.50.0106 double click on the thumbnail opens file twice
Hi Don, I'm not sure I'm liking a single click on image thumbnail opening the default associated program. You obviously had had to provide some amount of delay now for MDBU which wasn't there before. Hopefully no delay was needed or provided for right click MDBU. I followed the other thread and I could see adding the single click for all icon views even tile views but thumbnail views? I think thumbnail views work best with MDBU and double click the thumbnail opens the associated file with no delays. Now when I double click the image thumbnail the image opens twice in my associated program (ImageEye). Single clicking on an image thumbnail opening the default program can actually be irritating. All a person has to do is simulate a double click with the mouse if single click is so important. Don't get me wrong, it's great with icons in list, details, icon, or even a tile view but with thumbnails not so much.
Thanks,
Ken
Edit: I didn't pipe in on the other thread because I honestly thought if you were to add this feature to thumbnail view it would have only been on a single click of the image file's "icon" and then only when someone had the "icon" overlay in configuration set. That's the way it should be.
Thanks,
Ken

Not sure if that's a bug. I think it is exptected behavior if you tick "Configuration | Menus, Mouse, Safety | Mouse | Single click on icon opens list items". If you don't like untick it.

Re: v14.50.0106 double click on the thumbnail opens file twi
Well maybe I shouldn't have posted the above in Bugs, but like I said, I like the feature as it was and even extended to all the views which have icons. Now you've introduced it to thumbnails and frankly it's a quite annoying when you're a MDBU user and the associated program keeps coming up when you inadvertently single click on a thumb which you then have to dismiss before you continue using MDBU. In thumbnail views if someone wants to single click to open the associated program, it should have been on the icon overlay. This is the bigger problem than the title issue. Thanks.
Edit: Any chance this new single click feature on thumbs could be made optional either in "Config | Thumbnails | Single click Thumbs opens file" or as a tweak especially since it's never been that way since day one of MDBU? I certainly can't be the only one who would it annoying if they're a heavy MDBU user.

click and hold: mdbu
click and release: open item ["Single click on icon opens list items" enabled]
I don't find it annoying at all...

Re: v14.50.0106 double click on the thumbnail opens file twi
Like I said above, I'm a heavy user of MDBU both left and right click, I know all about click and hold but when you have right configured as click stay up it can be both confusing and annoying to have a single left click opening the file especially after multiple years of not having it that way. And no, I don't want to disable single click on file to open because I like that feature in list and details.SammaySarkar wrote:I don't find it annoying at all...
Sorry, but I think it should have been optional for thumbnails especially since we've deviated from how it's been for years and it was only one user that prompted this change.

I personally don't care so much for that feature (I would never tick "Single click on icon opens list items"), and I can take it back for tiles and thumbnails (either both or none), no problem. But I won't add anymore options or tweaks here.

I think allowing single-click on tiles as well as icons, but not on thumbnails, is a good compromise. Does anyone object to that?

Jeff

Please keep support for tiles! You said earlier that you could keep either or both.
Thanks,
Jeff

I'm certainly fine with that. Sorry for bringing this up but after getting accustomed to doing something a certain way for quite a while...well you know what I mean. Thanks.Jeff Bellune wrote:I think allowing single-click on tiles as well as icons, but not on thumbnails, is a good compromise. Does anyone object to that?

Don't apologize! I created my bug report because *I* was used to doing things a certain way! :-)

Re: v14.50.0106 double click on the thumbnail opens file twi
I noticed 14.50.0107 release notes says that support for single-click-open on both Tiles and Thumbnails has been removed. I haven't downloaded to test because I have 106 and it's working well for me.
I know I'm getting really close to beating a dead horse here, but since no one has objected to single-click-open on Tiles, could that part of the feature be restored, please? Single-click-open (SCO?
) on Tiles worked in versions 14.40.0311 and earlier, so I don't feel I'm being unreasonable asking for that feature back. If the answer is, "No", then I'll shut up and keep using 106 until XY goes 64-bit. Regardless of the outcome, I appreciate everyone's input in this topic and in my other topic.
Cheers,
Jeff

Re: v14.50.0106 double click on the thumbnail opens file twi
Jeff,
I hope I am going to give a proper response here. I installed 14.50.0200 and this is how it works for me ...
1. Configuration|Menu, Mouse, Safety | Single click on icon opens list items -- ticked (I have never used this option before).
2. List mode: a single click on the icon opens the associated program.
List mode: left click held on icon opens MDBU image, right click opens MDBU image.
3. Thumbnail mode: (ticked option to display icon with thumbnail) left click to open associated program is ignored.
(untick single click and double click on icon or thumbnail opens associated program.)
Thumbnail mode: left click held on icon or thumbnail opens MDBU image, right click opens MDBU image.
Cheers,
Gary

Yes, that is what happens now, but Jeff is asking for the single-click-open on thumbs and tiles to return. And they should.
