Quick switching between tabs causes tabs to freeze?
Quick switching between tabs causes tabs to freeze?
How can I prevent the tabs being frozen; I have to click on them 3 times sometime before they get into focus/get selected

No frozen tabs here. But maybe your tabs point to sleepy network locations?

No network locations; if I simply click on one tab, then click on another tab quickly, my clicks are ignored for around a second to two seconds

Re: Quick switching between tabs causes tabs to freeze?
Curious if the first tab clicked is pointing to is relatively large folder with many files (especially if you have a detail view with custom columns). Could XY be still reading the file list when you click the second tab? I ask because I've started to scroll before the file reading is done and XY will instead scrolls the tabs instead. This only would happen for me on the very first file read in a large folder with custom columns displayed.

Yep, that's probably it. You can change tabs only if the reading is complete. If you try to change tabs while reading is not complete the reading will be stopped at the next point possible. Then you can change tabs.klownboy wrote:Curious if the first tab clicked is pointing to is relatively large folder with many files (especially if you have a detail view with custom columns). Any chance that pressing Esc can stop loading a tab with more granularity in time, like it does with searches?admin wrote:You can change tabs only if the reading is complete. It will stop a tab loading but with the same granularity.Marco wrote:Any chance that pressing Esc can stop loading a tab with more granularity in time, like it does with searches?admin wrote:You can change tabs only if the reading is complete. Re: Quick switching between tabs causes tabs to freeze?
sorry for the late response here, but it seems the issue has gone away after I touched the tab double-click setting.
before that I had the issue constantly whether or not the folder was small or large; but perhaps it was the loading issue as mentioned
whatever the case thanks for the responses

Re: Quick switching between tabs causes tabs to freeze?
Alright, yet another update here after I've had some more experience:
First issue; I thought there was some double-click code (under tab settings, tab behavior when tab is double-clicked) where it was not registered the second click, mistaking the second click on a tab as a ghost double-click and therefore not bringing up the tab when you click on it. NOTE: this appears to not be the issue
As the admin/moderator/developer? mentioned, yes it does appear to be the tab not responding to a first click directly on the tab because it's still loading the folder/drive contents and won't respond to a click directly on the tab during that timeframe. You must (currently) wait until the tab is finished loading (which can be long for network locations AND/OR if you have subfolder/files' sizes calculated when opening a folder (XYplorer has to read through all the subfolders which increases the load time for the tab)
The SOLUTION: which I think we deserve for a $70 piece of software; we should have queued UI events, so that input is not lost; also some indication that a tab is loading would be nice as an option; perhaps some rotating 16x16 animated icon that can be customized/themed would be ideal. At a minimum, when I click on something, I want that something to do what I told it to do, and not throw away my input.
ONE LAST THING: Yes, if you close a tab while it's loading, it cancels loading/subfolder size calculation (and network location loading I imagine); but this really screws you if you open up C:\, because then you are left with a dead/ghost tab that XYplorer mistakes for the locked tab in the previous slot!!! Big problem if you have a number of locked folders you like to keep up.

Thanks for the report, I'll check this.
BTW, the software is only $30.
