Compare Paper Folders and The Catalog

Post by Jeff Bellune »

The two seem very similar to me; are there any "Wow! You mean I can do that?" feature differences between the two? I feel like I'm the only dummy in the class who doesn't know what the teacher is talking about.

NB: I do know about putting applications into The Catalog and being able to drag & drop files from the List to open them in the target application. I have a few Toolbar Buttons that do the same thing.

Cheers,
Jeff

Paper Folders can only list files and folders (so far)
Catalogs can contain files+folders+paper folders+scripts+tags+searches+drop targets+notes+ :cup: + :ball: + + ....
Icon Names | Onyx | Undocumented Commands | xypcre

To mention a few things where Paper outsmarts Catalog:
- display in regular list view to benefit from the usual list window luxuries (sort, filter, select ...)
- pass on the list (or parts of it) to other operations or scripts
- stored in plain text files that can easily be resused in other programs (and vice versa: use the txt-output of other progs to have a clickable navigation folder within XY)
