Don, why not have the Paper CTB provide a list of Papers as is done in PaperList here? http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=12101 It would render another good script outdated and at the same time make the CTB much more useful in having the paper list straight on when you click the CTB.

Um, the old theme revisited...

I believe I have found still one way how to show the unwanted path column in tabs that are not a paper tab. At my place, the following seems to suffice:

1. Open a previously saved tabset consisting of a few tabs.
2. In one of those tabs now open some paper - I do it from a Catalog in which one entry is a paper (i.e. as a consequence this tab now shows the paper and has the path column visible, all as expected).
3. Now do ::tabset("revert"); from the AB (i.e. in that way reloading the tabset, whose one tab was "misused" for the paper in step 2).

At my place all the tabs now have the path column visible.

OK, you found a nasty trick. That cannot be improved at the moment.

From my experience ("the degradation of designs and architectures" ), planning consolidation releases - at least sort of - is a must for established brands/market leaders. In addition to "plain and standard" product lifecycle support most times it is THE stimulating "deep breath" before the next big leap. Good idea. :D

Another good idea: Don, what about summer holidays?

Yes, these are all very nice ideas. I'm all for it. My problem is that I have so many killer ideas on my table. :ninja: But, I guess I will put them into the fridge and increase the distance between me and the machine by some thousands of miles for a while.

I have intermittent internet service right now and don't have the time to search through all posts so I'll put my requests and bug report here:

Request custom icons for Paper Folders; possibly a line within the text file itself denoting the chosen icon.

Request delete confirmation suppression of PF items...please please please!

Bug? Network locations in paper folders aquire folder size even if it's disabled in options....this can really sloooooow things down.

Thanks Don.

Can be done via Custom File Icons.

Phase 2.

Confirmed.

Two Three wishes:
1) make all SCs work with paper items. Such as open "paper:folder\item.ini"; //in other words, make all SCs parse the item's full path from the PF
2) an edit... item in the PF menu to edit the actual PF file in ~notepad.
3) folders in PF file should end with \ ; otherwise zombie folders show up as files.

My wish: being able to stop parsing a PF with ESC, much like you can stop a search that's finding too many items or taking too long.
Reason: that's what I just did, and loading a 200k+-line PF isn't that graceful on a mechanic drive.

YIKES! I'm always late to the party. I'm going to DL 14 and see this new feature.

At the moment I want to compare "Paper" to "the Catalog" - is it just "Catalog cloned?" - is that the idea?

I anticipate that my #1 issue will actually be a repeat of the Catalog's lack of update capability -

 a slick manual loop - to use VTE that can be done in seconds. Even with no automation of the process that's way beyond Windows' Shortcuts.

  One way you could speed this up is to allow a D&D REPLACEMENT from VT Everything Search. Save the Delete/Confirm or manual update entirely.

There's an idea for ya! :ball:

Hi,

after using an older version for years, I've been testing the newest version since yesterday, and I think more money is coming your way, Don. :)

However, I've got two suggestions for paper folders so far. I hope they haven't been made before:

1) Paper subfolders would be really useful once we've got our paper folder tree.
2) Option to customize keyboard shortcuts in paper folders. I myself am thinking of "Del" removes file from paper folder, but "Shift+Del" deletes the actual file permanently.

Best wishes,
Petra
