Title in new command prompt

Post by peter.arrenbrecht »

It would be cool if Ctrl+Alt+P (Open Command Prompt Here) would do a "title <current-dir>" immediately. This would be handy to tell apart multiple command prompts automatically.

From within the console itself you can change the title by typing

Code: Select all

TITLE=<your text here>
at the prompt.
Not sure if that is useful or not.

Cheers,

Did command prompts have the XY icon in them before? :)

I don't recall as I've only used it a couple of times...but when trying it out now, was somewhat surprised as it appeared that another XY session had opened instead of Command Prompt by looking strictly at taskbar...

BTW, I can't spot the keyboard shortcut for this in XY Help - KS page...I have it on wiki but likely needs to be internal to XY Help also.
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!

Yeah, that XY icon wasnt there before. also in the taskbar it shows as XY session, but task manager shows it as cmd.exe. Neither of them bother me though.

I do not really like the new XY icon for the command prompt because the command prompt opened by XY is a command prompt and not a XY session.

And I usually identify application by the icon in the task bar, then since the new icon for command prompt, I do not see the command prompts open by XY in the task bar...

Maybe a way to do it would be either a different icon totally (a smaller XY?), or XY with another color scheme, like green instead of orange, or similar.
