is there a way to customize large tiles view ?
Right now I'm stuck with very small icons.
Also would like to hide the file date, time and version.
The file name is too short and can't be read for files with long names!
Finally, the spacing (both horizontal and vertical) between the files is too close.
Is there any way to change any of those ? or is tiles view set in stone like everything else in XYplorer ??!
Help!
Customize tiles view

I also dream about it!
Re: Customize tiles view
Unfortunately not. Tiles view is mostly mimicking Windows Explorer so those limitations are from that. There might be a tweak in the XYplorer.ini but I don't know.

Sure there are many things set in stone in XYplorer but there are also many things that are flexible. What do you mean by everything?

Re: Customize tiles view
Does it ? I'm would be happy with mimicking the Windows Explorer tiles view for example, but on my system WE tiles and XY tiles look totally different as well.Enternal wrote:Unfortunately not. Tiles view is mostly mimicking Windows Explorer so those limitations are from that.
Compare the following 3 screenshots
Re: Customize tiles view
Could you use moderate screenshot sizes, please?

Re: Customize tiles view
So you don't find the extra info useful? That's what makes XY display better because it does show this...shadi.lahham wrote:Also would like to hide the file date, time and version.
You can always hover over it to see rest of info and taking that room for date is more important to some of usThe file name is too short and can't be read for files with long names!
Can't recall if there is any tweak(s) related to this but maximizing the nbr of files shown is another of XY goals so spacing may thus need to be less. Finally, the spacing (both horizontal and vertical) between the files is too close.
And...best to have max 800x600 or similar screenshot sizes posted here (reduce JPG to that if needed) beacsue it makes forum hard to read on some screens.
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!

Re: Customize tiles view
No, when I want to see that much detail I would just switch to "details view".j_c_hallgren wrote:So you don't find the extra info useful? That's what makes XY display better because it does show this...shadi.lahham wrote:Also would like to hide the file date, time and version.
It should be possible to customize a shortcut key (e.g F12) to be able to switch between two views that the user defines (e.g "tiles" -> "details")
When I'm in Tiles view I am most interested in a large overview, meaning very large icons and complete filenames, in order to identify the files.j_c_hallgren wrote:You can always hover over it to see rest of info and taking that room for date is more important to some of usshadi.lahham wrote:The file name is too short and can't be read for files with long names!
Date, time, should be on hover.
Filesize could be in both.
In tiles view it's more important to have a nice clear representation of files than getting more detail. In detail view it's more important to see more files, more details and be able to quickly sort and filter.
As mentioned above, there should be a very quick way to switch from one to the other.
Maximizing the quantity of files might make sense in details view, not in tiles view. In any case the end user should have complete control over how things look and work, otherwise what's the point ?j_c_hallgren wrote:Can't recall if there is any tweak(s) related to this but maximizing the nbr of files shown is another of XY goals so spacing may thus need to be less.shadi.lahham wrote:Finally, the spacing (both horizontal and vertical) between the files is too close.
I will remember that in the future. I didn't know what the forum conventions are. Thanks for the tipj_c_hallgren wrote:shadi.lahham wrote: And...best to have max 800x600 or similar screenshot sizes posted here (reduce JPG to that if needed) beacsue it makes forum hard to read on some screens.
Re: Customize tiles view
Now you can make a button to switch types, described here: http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic. ... 526#p78529shadi.lahham

I fully support all of this!!!When I'm in Tiles view I am most interested in a large overview, meaning very large icons and complete filenames, in order to identify the files.
