Paper Folders
Re: Paper Folders
I think that this whole issue should be clarified...
As for me, I need path column to be seen when a paper folder is shown, but not when a normal folder is shown. Otherwise I can not use paper folders.
So, if I have a paper folder in one tab and switch to some other tab (with a normal folder), the path column should go away.
For me, the "Always Show Path Column" should mean: "Always show path column when paper folder is a current location and nowhere else".

Re: Paper Folders
A very logical reaction. If I am in a paper folder and untick the Always Show Path, the path should disappear immediately. So when I leave the paper folder, the Path won't stick.admin wrote:Not a bug but totally expected. Or what did you expect?

Hm, yes, that's a possibility too.LittleBiG wrote:A very logical reaction. If I am in a paper folder and untick the Always Show Path, the path should disappear immediately. So when I leave the paper folder, the Path won't stick.admin wrote:Not a bug but totally expected. Or what did you expect?

i'd wish to see this too! actually, there is a wish-thread about same sc for buttons = we really do need a way to re-write/update names of Catalog items and CTB via scripts.LittleBiG wrote:I wish a script in the catalog could be change its caption... I could come up with a script to modify the caption like this "MyCollection (12)" showing the number of files in the paper folder.admin wrote:I simply have a catalog item pointing to this location: paper:Stuff Then I drop my stuff onto it. as feature grows more, it defenitelly deserves an own View.!binocular222 wrote:Just like Browse, Recycle, QNS,.. each has a separate view mode, then we should have 1 more view mode for Paper?

Re: Paper Folders
I had originally planned an own view mode for it, but now I think the concept does not fit here. Remember that you can search a PF and get PF-based search results (= Find mode).
Also remember that another view mode would mean quite some overhead in configuration (extra work for the user).
So, what would be won?

Consistency across all paper folders? Although I don't object to other means to achieve the same end.admin wrote:So, what would be won?
The right-click option "Always show path columns" doesn't stick with subsequent calls. No FVS involved in my case, nothing else I could think of

Hmm, no such problem here. Describe your procedure.Stef123 wrote:The right-click option "Always show path columns" doesn't stick with subsequent calls. No FVS involved in my case, nothing else I could think of

Re: Paper Folders
1) Open... "pap1.txt"
2) Open... "pap2.txt"
First time around I get the path, second time I don't.

Re: Paper Folders
Personally I think it would me a bit more useful for catalog, because the caption is always visible there.eil wrote:i'd wish to see this too! actually, there is a wish-thread about same sc for buttons = we really do need a way to re-write/update names of Catalog items and CTB via scripts.LittleBiG wrote:I wish a script in the catalog could be change its caption... Weird. Anybody can repro this?Stef123 wrote:1) Open... "pap1.txt"

Re: Paper Folders
More info: I had dragged the path-col up front, making it the 1st col, left of the name col (my 2nd). I did that BEFORE your option to always show the path was available. In other words: It was a manual view setting I had applied to my paper folders - but meanwhile I have deleted all VFS relating to that.admin wrote:Weird. It seems to always work correctly (showing path as 1st col) when I open a paper in a new tab, but then fails me (no path at all) on loading the next paper into the same tab.
