Menu > View.....Configure Thumbnails Bug [Resolved]

Post by Nighted »

Or is it a bug?

When I select from the Menu > View > Views > Configure Thumbnails... I get the "File Info Tips" tab in the Configuration dialog.

Hmm....oh, can someone tell me if you can view thumbnails on folders while you reply to this? Thank you.

To make sure we're "on the same wavelength", which exact vers are you running?

OH! You're probably using the latest "official" release, which many of us here haven't used for a month or so, as we tend to stay on the (b)leading edge with beta vers...It just might be a bit easier for us to help verify errors if you'd try the beta from http://www.xyplorer.com/download/xyplorer_5.50_beta.zip...

To preserve your current setup, you'll need to make a backup or copy of the INI file and Catalog, if applicable...but we tend to have VERY good luck with beta's so risk is usually minimal...

Update: This bug WAS fixed in next beta! I thought I recalled that issue..

Code: Select all

v5.50.0003 - 22.12.06 09:30
! Menu View|Views|Configure Thumbnails... opened the wrong tab.
      Fixed.

I have no problem using betas. I'll check the revision history on the beta before posting any more bugs...I'm sure I'll find them if they are there.

Many of us keep an eye on the Beta Version sub-forum at http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?t=4 and when we see a new post, go to end of that thread and see what 'Santa' has done...and if there is something that may apply to us, get latest vers...

Most often, all betas tend to use same zip file name, so if you want to keep old vers, you'll need to do so yourself...I now usually keep last 2-3 locally, in case I want to backtrack and see if issue is new or prior...

However, sometimes locating a bug that was fixed even a month ago is not that easy, due to number of beta vers that occur...but hey, I'll take that over non-fixed errors any day!

Great, no problem. I'll use Beta versions for the entirety of my trial.

Um...sorry to ask again, but is there a way to see thumbs on folders like in Explorer?

Part of reason I didn't answer this: I think thumbs work slightly differently on XP (which I presume you're using) than on my older 2K sys...as on my Win Expl, when I select thumbs, any folders show just as larger icons, as they do in XY...so either I'm not following your query exactly, or I'm not able to try it due to OS..

I'm running XP and can view thumbnails (View -> Current Tab -> Views and choose a thumbnail size, or alternatively put a Thumbnails button in your toolbar).

Pictures seem to show as a thumbnail, most others as an icon of their associated program. A nice feature here would be fore movie files to show the first frame as its thumbnail view.

Does seem to be there though.

Cheers,

D

In XP, when you have thumbnails view set in explorer, if a folder contains images, you will see images on the folder.

This would possibly be a performance issue, but more likely, the problem that occured with preview of movie files would be here also...which is: The first frame of a movie may be totally BLACK or similar! That's why there is a "skip milliseconds" option on video preview on Preview tab in Config...

Yeah this is not possible in XY. A folder icon will only be the icon for that folder (the classic icon most of times, unless it has a specific icon)

Yes, and this has been previously mentionned already here actually. It's on a list, but will probably not be there soon, as many other great features are planned before...
