UltraISO incompatibility on drag-and-drop

When I open an image file in UltraISO that has a one-level directory structure, and drop the entire contents of it on XYplorer, I get this every time:

This makes UltraISO freeze.

Here is a sample floppy image, which can be used to reproduce this problem. To reproduce:

1. Open freeze.ima in UltraISO.

2. In UltraISO, select everything in the upper right pane (i.e. the folder named "folder" and the file named "file.txt"), and drag them to a folder in XYplorer.

Drag-and-drop also doesn't work properly when files/folders are dragged from TeraByte Unlimited's TBIView.

Still can't drag-and-drop from Thunderbird, though that seems to be a different problem.

There have been problems with at least half a dozen other third-party applications, but I usually don't report them.

Should I create a separate thread for each problem? Or not report individual drag-and-drop issues at all? (Not sure if it's one or a small number of problems that breaks everything, or if each one is its own thing.)

Report them here. Best would be if you find a small no-install app that makes such problems. Makes it easier for me to reproduce. Thanks!

I left out child registry objects because obviously, all you really need to be concerned with is the parent. (There isn't much anyway.)

To reproduce:

1. Install TBIView. After TBIView is installed, it should associate itself with .IMG files (as seen above under REGISTRY DETAILS).

2. Download this sample .IMG file (445 KB) and double click it to open it in TBIView.

3. In the left pane of TBIView, click the [+] to expand the parent folder. There is one subfolder therein, conspicuously named Drag me to a folder in XYplorer. But wait... Drag it to an Explorer window first. It should work. Then try dragging it to an XYplorer window. What happens to me, every time, is this:

I tried it. Yes, it does not work. But with the current BETA, you should get an error message "Failed to get dropped contents of ....".

I currently do not know how to handle this drop format. But I will find out later.

Update: at least I could fix it to drop TeraByte files correctly!

Cool. Thanks for looking into this. The drag-and-drop limitations of XY drive me bonkers... Sorry, just being honest. I use XY so I don't have to use Explorer...

This may be totally unrelated to the other drag-and-drop issues, but I've long noticed (but for some reason, never pointed out) that one cannot drag a file system object to the Start button (to add it to the Start menu).

This may be totally unrelated to the other drag-and-drop issues, but I've long noticed (but for some reason, never pointed out) that one cannot drag a file system object to the Start button (to add it to the Start menu).

This is related to the fact that dragging from XY to the rest of the world will not allow creating shortcuts. For me personally the biggest open mystery in XY development. I have communicated with all known and living drag-n-drop gurus about it and nobody knows the answer.
The workaround is: first create the shortcut "here", then drag-drop-move it to the Start menu.
