TIF file (created by local appl) get "Cant decode"
I'd created some TIF files a while ago from JPG's (think it was via IrFanView, but could be another appl) and get the "Cannot decode" when trying to preview in XY...no big deal, as I know what they are from file names, but wanted to add it the ever growing list of minor issues that could fall into either Bugs or Wishes...so put it here...ok?
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!

Can you show them with Windows's image viewer? Because we all rely on GDIplus...j_c_hallgren wrote:I'd created some TIF files a while ago from JPG's (think it was via IrFanView, but could be another appl) and get the "Cannot decode" when trying to preview in XY...no big deal, as I know what they are from file names, but wanted to add it the ever growing list of minor issues that could fall into either Bugs or Wishes...so put it here...ok?

Hummmm....Ok...went back and tried to open the file via the Kodak Imaging module...it couldn't do so...Paint.NET failed also, but IrfanView and Adobe Photoshop Elements could open the file...
So found a TIF that was created today as result of a fax cover sheet send...XY was able to open that one...thus, it seems the issue may be a unusual TIF.
As I wrote before, I think I created the failing TIF via IrFanView...as test, opened it via Adb P-E, and created a new copy...that file was able to be opened by XY just fine...while creating the copy, I saw an option that may have impact on this...which was LWZ compression...as the failing file was 430KB+- while the copy was 8300KB+-, so looks like I used that option originally or a similar one.
Conclusion: XY maybe shouldn't be expected to handle everything! If it was the only appl failing on these files, that's one thing, but here, two others fail also...

IrFanView shows it as "JPEG (In TIFF)" so definitely seems to have been compressed....found another TIF that I'd created also via IFV...that works fine in XY...so let's just leave XY as is, since this thread will document the issue for future users, ok?
