a possibility to add something like in the explorer of vista

Post by itsme28m »

Hi,

In vista, you can click on a part of the directory, and then you can go up/down in that part of the directory.

For example, you have:

c:\documents\file1
c:\documents\file2
c:\documents\file3
c:\others\file1

if you click then on the directory documents, then you have the directory others under it, if you click on file1, you get the file1, file2 and file3 as a clickable directory.

This comes most in handy if you have many subdirectory's, and it's also faster go go to another directory. When i first heard of the breadcrumb in xyplorer i thought it would be something like this.

Greetings,

Steve

Yes, I've seen it. Mixture between tree, breadcrumb as we know it from the web, and auto-suggest as in XY's addressbar. I'll probably add such a beast as a mode of the addressbar.

2007 seems to be a very good year for xyplorer ;-)

Donald,

Now i just readed the roadmap, and it's there already, forget to check it earlier i gues ;).

I really love the new play next options, just for that i installed the latest 2 beta versions for the first time for that option only.

So Donald, you rock! (however, i like you and your programming skills more then rock music :p ).

It seems xyplorer will be the perfect explorer for me, and many others ;-).

One note for the future breadcrumb, you say as a mode of the addressbar, so like you have a different mode of view (details/list...) now, in the future we also have another mode for the addressbar? This would be a very good move, because both kind of addressbar has its advantages, and it's perfect, if the size of the addressbar doesn't get bigger or changed as the addressbar we now have. I also think there doesn't need to be an arrow to click on the directory, just clicking on the name of the directory would be enough to choose another location.

And now i'm here to talk about the breadcrumb mode... in the breadcrumb mode, when the user clicks on an empty space in the addressbar, select the whole directory, and make an ctrl-v or ctrl-c possible, so even in the breadcrumb mode, the user can still copy/paste directory's to or from another application.

Greetings,

Steve

Thanks! :D

Conc. the breadcrumb mode: there's some heavy other stuff coming first (see roadmap) so let's wait a bit with compiling ideas...

Here I go resurrecting another old thread.

I would really like to have a clickable path in the address bar to function as a BC. Toggling modes of the AB or whatever it takes is OK by me.

I just checked the XY roadmap, and I didn't see this on the list. I just want to make sure this feature doesn't get dropped (unless Don says he definitely doesn't want to do it).

:? , i surely remember the "vista-like clickable paths" or something similar in the XY roadmap.
I know roadmap is not a binding promise, but the clickable paths are very popular since vista has been introduced. I can already see a large population of users asking this: When vista can have it, why not XY?
