I'm normally a dual pane user. I like to open one folder on the left and a different on the right to copy & paste or drag and drop from one side to the other.
I'll want to use scripted custom columns a bit more but with a dual pane layout I really don't have the necessary space for them.
I know I could switch my layouts by scripting but I just wanted to ask:
How are you (single pane users) doing you copy / paste || drag & drop stuff?
A catalog with your most used folders or by browsing the tree (which is locked atm)?
Any hints for a good single pane workflow?

Re: Working with a single pane?
The Recent File Operations TB button is my most pressed button.
If it does not contain what I need I used Ctrl+F7 (Copy To).
I NEVER use Dual Pane for any file operations.

Re: Working with a single pane?
I use single pane only.
To copy/paste: Place 2 tabs next to each other
ctr+c/ctrl+v
ctrl+. goto prev tab
ctrl+context button (I remapped that key to Tab) goto next tab.
Drag/drop to Tab header is rarely used.
To navigate around: press "f" trigger #550 (popup list of favourite folders)

Recent File Ops could intercept renames, too.
I often have to use copy+paste but RFO would be a time-saver for this sort of regular operation.
Single-paners could benefit on this,I guess.

Re: Working with a single pane?
I do mostly, either ctr+c/ctrl+v or when in mouse mode using the tab headers as drop targets.binocular222 wrote:I use single pane only.
Currently, I use dual pane only during my weekly backups where I visually verify each job by sync browsing a redundant directory structure.

Re: Working with a single pane?
Hi highend, I use single pane in most situations. As we discussed in Dropping files to Flash/External drive folders, I find myself using the drop to scripts in the catalog probably more than any other. One script for the flash/external drive(s) connected and another for the commonly used hard drive folders. It's been very convenient. I use them now more than dragging to a tab.
