How to add viewer to preview feature

Post by quirkygal »

First of all, I'm in love with this program. I only downloaded it last night and it has made my computing day sooooo much easier :ugeek:

One thing I am stumped on though is how to add or edit a viewer to the preview feature. I have thousands of machine embroidery files with the extension DST, PES, and HUS. I have an iconizer installed as part of my embroidery software program that allows me to view/preview the files in Windows Explorer. Is there a way to tell XYplorer that for file types with DST PES or HUS extensions a preview or thumbnail can be generated using Embird Iconizer viewer? I have allow shell extensions ticked under options and I've downloaded, installed, and activated the 32 bit version of the embroidery software (I'm running Windows 7 64-bit).

Many thanks for your help.

It might not be possible to add those formats for previews, but the mentioned software looks to include a thumbnail and/or icon handler. If it's the former, and it installs the 32-bit extensions obvs., then XY should at least be able to display thumbnails for the supported files, right?

quirkygal, do you have Preview > Thumbnails > Enable shell thumbnails enabled?

I do have the enable shell previews box ticked.

I'm going to go back and double check the Embird install and make sure the program properly registered. Perhaps something went sideways with uninstalling the 64 bit version and then installing the 32 bit version.

Thanks

Looks like there is a registry error in the embroidery software. I'm going to have poke around later this weekend.

Happy Friday!
