No worries from my side.
It's related to maintenance only, not something that impedes usability or hinders my workflow.
I rather see you working on tangibles with immediate user payoff

May be also impractical but just throwing out this idea: How about a way to generate a report (plain text/NotePad) that would simply list all INI values that deviate/differ from defaults? That could help track down which settings might need to be looked at...might be easier than coding for and maintaining a separate file.

There are external compare utilities that could also be used IF there was a automatically generated default INI file stored on install/updates.
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
(XP on laptop with touchpad and thus NO mouse!) Using latest beta vers when possible.

That works already, without the need for plain text reports. You can run compare tools on ini files directly.
I think the original idea (binocular222) was geared towards easier maintenance. To rule out inconsistencies like these:

I strongly support this suggestion because after updating to new version I lose some customized settings

Hm, upgrading power filters works perfectly. Something must be wrong at your end. How do you download and install a new version?

Sure, send me the INI that contains your 41 power filters and will lose them on upgrade.
