USB hard drive shows as Removable; WE shows as Fixed

Post by j_c_hallgren »

I have an external USB hard drive that has three partitions...
Have made a couple of partial screen prints to clarify...

When I plug it in and look at it via Win Expl, it shows properly as three fixed drives with all three label names as given...Drive E is labeled as "JCH-C SG", etc...
Image

But in XY, it shows as name "Removable Disk (E)" with removable icon and then two fixed drives with correct names/icons...

Seems to be a minor bug here...and maybe hard to test without a similar setup...I'm willing as always to help!
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
(XP on laptop with touchpad and thus NO mouse!) Using latest beta vers when possible.

XY 5.50.004 and Win2K here. Both XY and WE shows my stick as Removeable Drive.

I agree that both show my USB flash drives correctly as Removable, but this is a Seagate 40GB laptop HDD in a USB enclosure, so...yes, technically it's also removable, but why should one of the three partitions show differently than the other two? Especially when Win Expl doesn't!

Ah crap, I'm sorry. I didn't even see the HD in an enclosure thing. Don't know how I could have missed that obvious piece of info.

Maybe...because in original post, I only said:

which isn't quite as obvious as my next reply was...
