I plan to add a newbie friendly button to the toolbar called "Popular Commands & Settings". It pops a dropdown with a couple of, uhm, Popular Commands & Settings. This shall also reduce the amount of ever-repeating questions here in the forum.

Here is my current list:

I think an extra button would add to the clutter. The idea confuses me, to be more specific.
*unless you make it default, removing the most buttons you can from the default toolbar* - then new users can find a comfortable place to
stay while, in their own time, will or will not find the other functions.
In that scenario, a useful entry on such 'Popular' list would be... customize toolbar.
Other than that, I can only think that a 'rich copy' reference would be welcome, too. It's the sort of thing everybody needs but
nobody looks for as they know 'it doesn't exist' - and they breath heavily in relieve when they find it!

Have to meditate on this.

If people start sharing their favorite commands built as .xys, then you'll have a lively feedback on what choices you have.

Users usually test Xyplorer shortly. They do not discover unknown power functions of Xyplorer.
Such functions do not exist anywhere else.
I think that following would be useful for new users, who don't know nothing about extra functions of Xyplorer. On the web page of Xyplorer is of course everything what users needs.

natural placement: main menu Help, after menu item Contents and index.

title of item (for example): Demonstrations of power features

message: Video Demonstrations of power features step by step

internal contents:

external links to videos for use of:

catalog
minitree
rich copy
and so on

They would find out that xyprorer is not like every other file manager.

I think this is a great idea.

XYplorer has so many capabilities and functions it can be daunting to a newbie. Or to a user that only occasionally needs to take advantage of the advanced functions (scripting) and scripting isn't their 2nd language. I think by making it easier to get to the more popular commands would make it feel more user friendly to the newbie and somewhat comfortable user and less like a programmer/scripter's file manager.
Being more user friendly to a newbie can also lead to more sales.

Yes, this was my idea. It was not about promoting power features but rather a sort of FAS (Frequently Asked Setting).
