you can use the quick visual filter. using your exemple, just enter this in the address bar: |*.jpg to toggle the filter off enter only a pipe (i.e. the same as b4, without *.jpg), or use the toolbar button. Along with the current filtering features , there could also be a filter on the fly. There could be a small text box where users can type in the files to be found with a particular text in there name in the current directory. For eg There is a wallpaper folder with 1000's of files.
