This is the case for every lnk file in my start menu that I've checked. The example I showed, Microsoft Word, is just one of hundreds of examples. So I guess I just have to use File Explorer when doing anything start menu related?

It actually affects ALL the folders within the user profile directory. I've just given a few examples so far. It even affects ordinary folders that I've created myself, which just have a normal folder icon. Anything that I browse to, using the short path, within the user profile folder, is affected....
