Not sure Mini Tree helps. It has the same behaviour as the normal tree - i.e. when I click on a favourite folder it expands to that folder, as well as opening the location in the relevant pane. In Configuration I have ticked the option to use XYPlorer as the default file manager. It claims that doing this will cause double clicked files or folders to open in XYPlorer.
