Re: XY extremly slow response (seems freezing) and buggy
3) Thanks alot I'll go through them. I have not known that pretty well hidden help information! Would never think of clicking on the help entry and holding Ctrl... I see I need to get / take more control of XY ;-) I want to add a personal note to Donald here. I absolutely love XY for many obvious r...

Re: include Everything (voidtools) → major speed-up! :-D
Thanks for the pointer. I was / am not aware of Listary. Seems basically pretty similar to Everything in regards to file search. One difference is that Everything is free to use and AFAIK can also be integrated _in_ the software directly. So I think still that would be a plus if XY would include the...

Re: Extreme laggy response and Excluding XY processes - security risk?
I am just having again problems with extremly slow response of XY. When I move 6 small files (jpg, png) to a subfolder it takes more than 30 seconds till the operation completes. In that time XY is stuck and does not react at all. This is with the latest version. Using Explorer works without any lag...

Re: include Everything (voidtools) → major speed-up! :-D
XY does not use the search-technology from Everything (www.voidtools.com) to have always an updated NTFS file index. It should! :-) That would be great and could speed things up drastically for functions like "Show folder sizes", which I would love to have always on, but it just slows down XY so mu...

Re: Real "Swap Panes"
Write a script, no bitching required... Well, ok, I did a little research and this seems to be a standard command for dual pane apps, so I will just add it. No big thing. :ninja: :cup: I too did (have to) live with the option missing, but was one who would use that on a regular basis as w...

Re: "fast jump" folder lookup
to search for "anything" I use Everything (www.voidtools.com). This does not update a list of preferred folders, but I did not miss that. I just type (part) of the names I am looking for. When searching for a folder (and not files and folders) add the relevant macro to the search, e.g. part_of_folde...

Re: Everything for xyplorer
If a search does not return immediately then it is no cached search. There is no other caching involved in a search. So, what kind of search is that? 200K is not such a big number... A related question. XY does not use the search-technology from Everything for itself, right? That would be great and...

Re: XY extremly slow response (seems freezing) and buggy
Hi Ralph, thanks for the answer and pointers. 1) Yes, like explained: on two PCs I did on one I can't -- no noticable difference for all three PCs 2) No 3) Thanks alot I'll go through them. I have not known that pretty well hidden help information! Would never think of clicking on the help entry and...

Re: XY extremly slow response (seems freezing) and buggy
For me startup time is normally not a problem. Opening folders, opening files, copy / delete operations take sometimes waaaaaay longer than they should. In most cases I would expect "instantly" and not some or many seconds - up to 30 or even more. Just for reference here my startup times: XY ver: XY...

XY extremly slow response (seems freezing) and buggy
I love the options of XY, _but_ from the very beginning I still struggle with the performance or beter said lack of performance of XY which I do not see always, but more or less regularly. In many cases it reacts just sooooo slow or does not show the expected behavior. What are critical places to ch...

Re: What is the difference between "add tags" and "set tags" (toolbar)?
I suggest to rename "set tags" to "replace tags"... then it will be clear without looking into the documentation or the forum

Re: +++ BREAKING NEWS: XY Switches Programming Language +++
The new incarnation of the software is estimated to be six months away. Don has stated that the name will need to remain the same. Still it should be modified in some fashion to make it crystal clear that it has cut the cord from Visual Basic. Recommend something like this: XYplorer NG 1.0 . In the...
