Re: Problems with Windows 10 1607 and XYplorer?
No, the whole point of my post is I couldn't remove it via Task Manager and I couldn't close XYplorer from there either. I tried numerous times, as well as trying numerous times via the pop ups that came from clicking on the close X. It was the only program (at first) responding that way. At some p...

Re: 64-bit context menu still painfully slow...
You know, I don't think I've ever right-clicked on that button. Cool! I *still* learn something every day. (I made a custom toolbar button that sits right next to the stock Rename button that has all the Rename Special options.)

Jeff

Which I use a lot. But most useful for me are all the options under File>Rename Special.admin wrote:There is also a toolbar button available for Rename.

Re: 64-bit context menu still painfully slow...
I know that ContextMenu64.exe is working on a new version I think you meant to type "Mesh" somewhere there. (Or did Mesh manage to make a sentient, self-replicating ctxmenu64 ?) Ha, LOL. My counter-typo. Yes. Mesh... Would you be willing to post here when Mesh has the ...

Re: 64-bit context menu still painfully slow...
Well, patience, I know that ContextMenu64.exe is working on a new version. Let's wait and see what's coming. I probably misread the notes for an earlier XY beta build for version 16.30 that seemed to indicate that a faster version was incorporated into that build. Something about the first instance...

Re: 64-bit context menu still painfully slow...
Mine is very slow the first time (as you said, 2-3 seconds) but not as bad after the first invocation. Use NirSoft's tools (shelmMenunew, Shexview, shmnview, etc) to view and enable/disable context menu handlers, potentially can trim some load time by disabling those you don't need. http://www.nirs...

64-bit context menu still painfully slow...
XY version 16.30 It takes 2-3 seconds to appear every time, not just the first attempt. Unusable for me and quite frustrating on a dual Xeon 12-core hyperthreaded machine running Windows 10. Some apps don't provide 32-bit context menu support, or don't function from XY's version of the context menu ...

Re: Just checking...
Thanks, Don. I appreciate your honesty. And I really appreciate your continued willingness to help users improve their own personal XY experience. I don't know of any other application developer who is so responsive.

Jeff

Re: Just checking on 64-bit executable plans
Bumping this topic (13 months later!). I'd like to get a straightforward answer from Don, please. I notice that a 64-bit XY executable is still on the road map, which gives me hope. But if there are absolutely no plans to create it, then I will stop hoping and just deal with the occasional odd issue...

Re: Just checking...
@RalphM: It's been discussed on these forums before that creating a 64-bit executable for XY requires Don to translate the code into a language with a 64-bit compiler like C++ or Delphi. I suspect that's why it remains near the bottom of his XY road map. I assume highend knows that, and that he was ...

How is work on the 64-bit executable progressing? A. "64-bit executable?!? What 64-bit executable?" B. "Slow and steady, like everything else." C. "Funny you should ask -- it's almost done!" D. "I'm putting off work on it as long as possible because I'd rather have...

Re: Problem opening PDF files from inside XY
Thanks for trying to figure it out. Sidebar: (TLDR expected. :) ) I tried a few non-Adobe PDF creation applications (not just readers) many years ago, but none were as good as Acrobat, nor did they produce documents that were as compatible. I rely on Adobe video production and special effects softwa...

Re: Problem opening PDF files from inside XY
I did. Neither one works. It's like XY tries to get the Acrobat executable and start the program, but it only gets so far before Windows or some other process interrupts the operation. I have Webroot Secure Anywhere Complete, but the problem remains even when my AV software protection is shut down. ...
