"Type stats and filter" button could be your new friend.

Re: is the a variable for internal portable folder?

Read up in the help file on "Custom File Associations (CFA)" and the use of "?" for portable drive letters.

Welcome to the forum!

Did you read the email that came with your license carefully, AFAIK there is one important step that is only mentioned there.

Re: Is it possible to track and update .lnk targets like vanilla explorer can?

Not sure if OP is referring to Windows Explorer with Vanilla, there is apparently a Vanilla Explorer for Android out there.
Only OP can answer this.

Re: New User - impressed so far

Welcome to the forum! With hope you might stick around. As a loyal user of XY for the last 15 years (therefore even before it was renamed to XY) my opinion might be a bit biased. I can say it is the single most worthy investment I have ever made in paid software. I bought the first lifetime license ...

Re: Auto-open in new tab

I think the OP is rather talking about (sub)folders being opened in new tabs.

Tip: If you click the folder in the tree and hold Shift while doing so, it opens in a new tab.

The same doesn't work in the list though, because Ctrl as well as Shift are used there for multiselect.

Re: XYplorer does not snap open as quick as Windows explorer

Ctrl + Help/Various Information gives you a few hints, which of your settings might affect speed. Running the following command from the address bar will display the load times of various processes while XY starts up: text get("LoadTimes"); This might give you a few ideas to start your investigations.

Re: Preview64.exe and xyplorer 21.30 and 21.40

Well, I wasn't aware that the old files were just left behind either.
I would have expected that an update with the installer would clean up obsolete files - are my expectations unreasonable?

Re: Reduce Context Menu clutter!

While I understand your frustration somehow, highend gave you a few keywords to look up in the help file and by doing so, make sense of a few general things before you might be able to try (and probably fail) with your first script but if you come back later with more specific questions, he's the on...

Re: Batch: merge pdfs with same "filename-part"

I'm not aware that XY does any merging of pdf files and would rather expect to use a pdf tool for such and not a file manager.
If you find a pdf tool with CLI you could certainly script XY to search for the files to be merged and then call the pdf tool from the same script.

AFAIK there are no limitations with the portable version apart from making it the standard explorer on the system it is used on.

Re: HEIC metadata

You could also try if exiftools sees the date taken and just timestamp the files accordingly. I have a CFA (Open With) entry that I use for my photos once I've copied them to the PC (though they're supposedly not HEIC anymore after this step). |"Timestamp MC with EXIF-Date"\;*.jpg>::timestamp mc, '<...

Re: XYplorer freezes when large quantity of files in the folder

So the suggestion above still stands, can you either try to exclude the two exe's from your AV (yes = AntiVirus) software or disable the AV software temporarily and then test if it makes any difference.

Re: XYplorer freezes when large quantity of files in the folder

Welcome to the forum.

You might have to provide a bit more details in order to get helpful replies.
One of the usual culprits however is having XYplorer.exe and XYcopy.exe not excluded from your AV software.
