Ok, so I deleted my faulty XYplorer.ini file (I think that was a mistake). On startup I was unregistered, that's ok as I replaced the details. Then turned on check for updates and then turned it off. That fixed the problem. Doing that I've lost my configuration, ie large icons, favorite folders, etc...

Fixed! Grabbed the backup data from C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\XYplorer\AutoBackup and replaced in C:\Users\ms\AppData\Roaming\XYplorer\

Just beware this might happen if you unselect check for updates.
