Re: Ctrl-F2 Swap names - no archive bit set

I can hold my breath until I'm blue in the face (and that's pretty long), but only F5 will show the changed situation. W7 v W8?

Re: Ctrl-F2 Swap names - no archive bit set

When I Ctrl-F2, on two files where the Attr column shows ---N---, the ---N--- stays after the names have been swapped! (And forgive me that the dash-count isn't correct)

Re: Ctrl-F2 Swap names - no archive bit set

I know where auto-refresh is shown, and it's on, but if I Ctrl-F2 two names, nothing shows until I manually F5: Various Information Settings that may affect speed XYplorer: 20.20.0102 (Pro Edition - Lifetime License Pro) Upgraded from: 20.00.0015 Loaded in: 486 ms at 2019-07-09 16:21:59 Uptime: 2 hr...

Re: Ctrl-F2 Swap names - no archive bit set

Yes, it does, which makes me wonder why it's not shown, I've got auto-refresh on. There's of course something else Window itself doesn't do, so in that respect XY is "correct", and that's setting the archive bit of every file in the directory trees when two directories are name-swapped (or even one ...

Ctrl-F2 Swap names - no archive bit set

Should this function not also set the archive attribute bit of both files, as not doing so may cause problems with incremental backups? In essence it's a double rename, and renames always set the archive attribute bit on!

Re: Alternate Data Streams

Other than that the "rekenwonder" link seems to point to a completely different site, is there any change in your views on ADS. Currently using Nirsoft's AlternateStreamView v1.55, but it would be nice if XY would also be able to view them, or at least show their presence.

Easier colour filters per folder

In one particular folder I may want to see .CCKD files stand out in red, and don't care about any of the other files, whereas in only one particular the .bat files need to stand out in red and nothing else, with yet another folder where the .asm files need to be red, but not giving anything about an...

Backups - only files with archive bit set

Why isn't there an option F9 ->File Operations -> Backup Operations (Configure) to make backups of only those files where the "archive" bit is set, with the additional option to (not) reset it, in other words like "XCOPY /a" or "XCOPY /m"? I would like to do my (incremental) backups from within XY u...

Mouse Down Blow Up anomaly

Just came across this: Folder with images, and click on the preview image in the properties pane. This will (obviously) perform a MDBU. Now, while the image is showing, use the cursor keys to move to another image, and release the left button - the blown up image stays up, and what's more it stays u...

Re: Make "Manage FV" anwenderfreundlicher

Maybe, but looking at the data in HxD, it seems to contain, not unsurprisingly, fields containing lengths, which makes it (nearly) impossible to change a "d:\01-lift\04-liftnotes\trip *\" into "*:\01-lift\04-liftnotes\trip *\|*:\*\01-lift\04-liftnotes\trip *\" setting, which I would use for backups.

Make "Manage FV" anwenderfreundlicher

Right now I'm editing dozens of Folder Views to replace the drive with an asterisk. Every time I'm finished with one, the complete dialogue closes and I have to start again by opening it. I've tried, outside XY and with XY closed, to directly edit the settings, but that doesn't (seem to) work. Also,...

Re: Configuration "Sort and Rename" too inflexible?

You are free to create a custom column that allows you to sort by folders first and then files by date but let me guess, that's also something you don't want? Most definitely not, as I would have to set it up, and as most of the sub-directories in these specially sorted folders are the result of Wi...

Re: Configuration "Sort and Rename" too inflexible?

That is a global setting, which will affect all folders, and that's something I absolutey do not want!

Re: Configuration "Sort and Rename" too inflexible?

My screenshot is just that, a screenshot. Just go to %temp%, create a temporary directory, CD to it and and recreate the files and directories in the screen-shot, you can just use "echo . > filename and create empty directories use XY to set the timestamps, (or automate this with a .BAT file and a t...
