Re: Mouse-Down Blow-Up wishes

Later, right now way to busy slurping up content from yet another magazine, Humboldt Journal of Social Relations, via https:/jstor.org/, that has opened up its archives until the end of the year.

Re: Mouse-Down Blow-Up wishes

Yes,I did see it, and I am ever so happy with it! MDBU shows what it needs to show, and I've not (yet) any false positives, although I'm sure I could come up with something, if I wanted (which I'm not). There's however one thing, I've added .XMI to the previewed Text formats, a long time ago, and fo...

Re: Mouse-Down Blow-Up wishes

A summary of the replies: Codepage 1047 is the IBM USS default codepage. Since so much of z/OS now runs in USS it really is the standard. There are 8 code point differences between 500 and 1047, including the crucial x'AD' and x'BD' {RP: The square brackets} It (aka the codepage) should be externali...

Re: Mouse-Down Blow-Up wishes

CP 500 might not be the best. I'll ask around on the ibm-main mailing list (gated one-way to this newsgroup) if there is a general opinion as to which one would be the best. Ideally you should/could externalise it to a hex table in xyplorer.ini, or a separate file like "ebcdic-xlat.dat".

Re: Mouse-Down Blow-Up wishes

1) do you have an EBCDIC sample? Enjoy the attached, containing both ASCII & EBCDIC. One thing, datasets (aka files) on z/OS are record based, i.e. do not contain the usual Windoze/Mac/Linux CR/LF/etc record terminators, and in this case, I've used a dataset with a fixed record length of 80 bytes, ...

Re: Mouse-Down Blow-Up wishes

1) maybe you should tick this: Configuration | Preview | Preview | Text preview | UTF-8 auto-detection That definitely helps. Maybe you could implement, even if only as a tweak, automatic EBCDIC detection. How hard is that? Not very, just look for long strings of 0x40 / "@", the EBCDIC codepoint fo...

Re: Mouse-Down Blow-Up wishes

if the data could be displayed in UTF-8 (or or even a user selectable codepage) You can select the codepage in the preview panel (Ctrl+4), it also applies to MDBU if you select Remember Selected Codepage, the options are in the orange down arrow menu. I think I actually asked for the codepage featu...

Mouse-Down Blow-Up wishes

It would be nice
  • if the data could be displayed in UTF-8 (or or even a user selectable codepage)
  • if, especially on larger screens, the data would not wrap long lines

Re: Folder View doesn't (seem to) remember column width

And [x] auto-save changes for those folders that remember it is not ticked for such a (saved) folder view? Yes, it is not ticked. (Yes, this is the correct answer to your question  ) I never tick it that box, after all, what's the use of saving a folder view if you then let the system appl...

Re: Folder View doesn't (seem to) remember column width

And where do I (un)set the "Autosize Columns" flag of the list? Gone to every "F9" option, but I don't see it. Tools > Customize List > Autosize Columns? That does indeed stops it from happening, but it does not explain why it has no effect on other saved folder view settings, where I can change co...

Re: Folder View doesn't (seem to) remember column width

And what makes this even more mysterious that on many folders, with the exact same setting in the FV dialog, I can change the column widths and they are saved!

Folder View doesn't (seem to) remember column width

Just a normal folder, visible columns are - name - size - type - modified - attr and to make it a bit more readable, I manually expand the width of the columns a bit, and save the folder view. Fiddle around, i.e. change the sort order, add an extra column (any), and then click on "Restore FV". Sort ...
