XYplorer 25.30 has been released on 05-Dec-2023. Here’s a quick introduction to the main new features:
Rounded Corners. Labels and color filters now optionally look slicker.
For labels, you can toggle the setting at Configuration | Information | Tags | Rounded, for Color Filters at Configuration | Colors and Styles | Color Filters | Draw background colors as rounded rectangles.
This is what your labels look like when you go for rounded, and set the style to "Label column (caption)":
By the way, the easiest way to set and change labels is to right-click an item's cell in the Label column:
The labels are also shown in the Floating Preview (F11). You can also change them from here by clicking on the label:
Soft Labels. Now you can use the label column as a link to any of the other tag columns. For example, you can display your rating stars here.
For example, if you defined the "Extra 1" column to hold your rating stars (to find out, right-click on the column header), then the variable <ex1> will refer to that column in your label definition. Here is the place to define the labels:
The contents of the Rating column will then appear in the Label column wherever you place that label:
In the same way, you can link labels to the other 15 Extra columns (<ex1> till <ex16>), the Tags column (<tag> for the first tag, and <tags> for all tags), and the Comment column (<cmt>). See Help for details.
Color-Code Path Length. You can now color-code items in the folder tree and file list according to their path length. Useful if you work with long, deep paths and need shell compatibility.
The Windows shell and many applications may refuse to work properly when confronted with path lengths > 259 characters. It is nice to be able to see right away when such problems are approaching.
The color filter definition to highlight overlong paths, len:>=260 //overlong paths (added in Configuration | Colors and Styles | Color Filters), now also works in the folder tree:
By the way, if you are in doubt about a color code you are looking at, the item’s tooltip will tell you which definition has been applied.
TGA Image Preview. Now you can natively preview and thumbnail TGA with transparency without the need for a third-party codec.
By the way, did you know that you can easily toggle the transparency background in the hover box through four states (neutral, grid, white, black)? Simply press T while the hover box is showing a picture with transparency:
And press B to toggle the background color between black and white. Here is white:
Last but not least, it should not go unmentioned that you can freely customize the colors of the grid at Configuration | Preview | Preview | Image preview | Transparency grid colors!
Many Other Improvements. See change log (about 1.5 MB).
