Option to show address bar under the tabs of each pane?

Post by TsunamiZ »

How about add an option to show an address bar under the tabs of each pane? It would be more convenient and intuitive for dual pane use. Also makes it convenient to see/edit full address of each pane.

BTW: Had this feature in my previous file manager and it was very useful. It's not so great for small resolution monitors. But this is a useful option for users with large widescreen monitors such as 1680x1050 or 1920x1200, etc.

You can already turn off the address bar... Window->Show Address Bar

I disagree with it being more anything other than annoying to have the address bar under the tabs but whatever floats your boat.

I seem to recall that somebody asked for this before, and was rejected as being too incompatible with XY's GUI, I believe...
If this becomes possible, we should also be able to turn off the big address bar.
My problem (and others as well) was that the AB got too small!
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
(XP on laptop with touchpad and thus NO mouse!) Using latest beta vers when possible.

An issue with widescreen monitors is that their width increases at a greater rate than their height. This results in vertical space being at a premium. So how having AB on each tab will conserve vertical space as it still has to be used...just in a different place.

P.S. Your numbers refer to resolutions and there are 21" screens that have those resolutions...as well as 27". Resolutions aren't always indicative of monitor sizes ;)

also, placing address bar under the tabs of each pane will make breadcrumbs more convenient to use when implemented. since we wouldn't have to move the cursor as far if the breadcrumbs is in the current pane.
