Currently we're unable to drag files/folders into the recycle bin folder. We have to manually press delete instead. Can this be fixed?
Tested on XY 9.0, Windows 7 x64.

Re: Unable to drag files/folders into recycle bin folder...
That's not a bug...As per changelog:
Code: Select all
v8.70.0150 - 2009-12-15 12:46
...
- No drag'n'drop to or from the Recycle Bin.

then i suggest making that a preference option
Re: Unable to drag files/folders into recycle bin folder...
Could you please explain the advantage(s) you would gain by being able to DnD files to RB as opposed to pressing/clicking "Delete"?TsunamiZ wrote:then i suggest making that a preference option
P.S. If it wasn't possible from the start then either there are technical limitations in the way of implementing it or doing so would require a lot of effort for relatively small returns. Please bear that in mind when asking to be made "a preference option"

Re: Unable to drag files/folders into recycle bin folder...
those would be the same advantages of drag and dropping anything versus copy/cut them. sometimes its faster than switching hand positions on the keyboard to press delete. personally, i use dual pane mode all the time and usually place the recycle bin in one pane and i would like to drag files into it for deletion.
it sounds like the function was there before. it would be better to let users choose to toggle how they want it.

Re: Unable to drag files/folders into recycle bin folder...
To alleviate the inconvenience, you may add a CTB, so deletion to RB is only a click away. The functionality -- as you describe it -- wasn't there before. Anyhow, this is a wish, not a bugTsunamiZ wrote:those would be the same advantages of drag and dropping anything versus copy/cut them. sometimes its faster than switching hand positions on the keyboard to press delete. personally, i use dual pane mode all the time and usually place the recycle bin in one pane and i would like to drag files into it for deletion.

Code: Select all
- No drag'n'drop to or from the Recycle Bin.drag and drop can't really be replaced by using a CTB. they're completely different.

Re: Unable to drag files/folders into recycle bin folder...
If you read the entire changelog for that vers (avail at http://xyplorer.blogspot.com/2009/12/v8 ... -1246.html for ex), you'd see that was when the RB Deluxe was added...prior to that, access to the RB was very limited and rather basic so...NO...it was NOT there before.TsunamiZ wrote:that sounded like a modification so it sounds like it was there before.Code: Select all

Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!

Re: cancel this topic
I see that you've once again used the "Let me make a new thread and cancel the old one" technique with this thread...
Yes, this wasn't a bug as was pointed out above but rather a wish, but that still doesn't mean you should make a new thread and attempt to remove prior traces...so here's a link to the new one http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4925 so the rest of us can make the connection.
There have been dozens of features added via bug threads that turned in wishes without the need to create a new thread, and even if done, they should be linked as I've now done.
