Nice tweak

Hi .. just want to share this tweak.

It is a common windows tweak to run programs from the run command-line (win-key+R). I use this for all my common tasks/programs and ofcourse i wanted to incorporate it for XYplorer too.

Before starting using this tweak i had to make XYplorer my default file manager (see how to do it). (Thanks to Jacky).
First, i made a folder called "RUN" (you can name it anything) in the XYplorer directory and placed this path in system variables's path like this:

Right-click 'my computer' and click properties > Advanced> Environmental variable> System variables> click on 'Path' and then 'edit' and place the path "C:\Program Files\XYplorer\RUN" (without quotes) here.

Now, i can place any* folder shortcuts (.lnk) inside this RUN folder. (Dont forget to rename the shortcuts to shorter names). Now, typing any shortcut name in the run command-line opens that folder in new tab in XY. [Eg: For me typing "xy" (without quotes and .lnk) will open xyplorer folder]. Isnt that coool. :D.

(* = except "my computer" and "my documents" which for me dont open in XY)

Ok, nice, and why don't you use favorites or catalog to "open an folder in XY"? :P

I ofcourse use catalog and favorites a lot. Just that sometimes i am outside xy and want to open a known folder, so i just use this method.

Yep, cool. So wouldn't you like that this folder always opens in a new tab?

Yeah it does open in new tab for me, even if i have a similar tab open which is locked. command from outside XY behaves like middle click for me.

I mean this: if XY is not running and the last current tab was not locked, then when opening a folder via command line this folder will overwrite the last current tab. I ask if it wouldn't be better to create a new tab instead.

Oh i see. Yeah in my opinion its better to always open in new tab instead of overwriting the old one. But then, there might be someone who doesnt want new tabs opening.

Well, then that someone shall complain... :)
