Keeping focus on pasted file(s)

Hi,
This is probably a newbie question, but I've had a search through the forum and can't find the answer...
In the standard explorer, if I copy or cut a set of files (or one file) from one folder, and paste them into another, they appear at the end of the list, highlighted, and thus ready for me to perform another operation (for instance, enqueing them to a music application)...
In my XYplorer setup, I paste the files into the folder, and they blend right into the sorted order of files, and are not highlighted... so I have to browse through the list to find them again.
Is it possible for me to change this behaviour - or the way I am performing the operation - to have them appear as a highlighted unit?
Cheers in advance
Matt

Yes you are right the highlight is lost. Similar kind of question has been addressed before but there is no solution for the losing highlight problem as yet. But still you can easily locate your recently pasted files by sorting your column by "created" (normally this is turned off, but you can enable this by right clicking on any of the columns) rather than "name" and your files will lie in the beginning or the end of folder (depending on ascending or descending type). Additionally, you can press F8 to see the exact age of your pasted files (which will be in seconds) and if you have the "auto refresh on file system changes" option checked (to enable this press F9>advanced), you will see the changing age which is easy to locate. But again, the hightlighted option would be easier. But we have to wait.

OK, thanks for the info... and yes, I'm using the sort as a workaround for now. I'll look out for any updtaes. Cheers

Just a reminder.
Keep focus on pasted files.

While paste (ctrl+p) after cut/copy (ctrl+x or c) focuses the pasted files. Drag&drop doesnt work that way. I already said this in yesterday's
"2nd pane, anyone" post. Just putting it to the right place.

It certainly sounds like expected behaviour to me for it to select pasted files if they're drag'n'dropped.

Its quite strange that it works sometimes and sometimes not. Could you please recheck this?? I mean, when i D&D and hold it on a tab longer and then release it then it works (only if none of the files in the destinations have been selected). Doing a quick D&D over tab (without going to the other tab) and choosing copy or paste doesnt work.
I am still trying to figure out when it works and when it doesnt. bottom-line is it has some bugs. Will get back if i discover some trend in this problem.

OK, i got it. Seems like if the destination folder (the one i am dragging to) has a selected file in it, then D&D wont work. Unselect all files in destination and try D&D from source and it works. But it depends on how you do it. Quick D&D (without waiting for the dstination tab to get focused) paste doesnt work because, the moment you drop files on other tab, the next file in the folder you are performing D&D from gets selected. Well, its complicated to explain. Someone help!!!
Nevermind, atleast what i understand is, if there any other selected file or folder other than you intend to D&D then it wouldnt work. Well, its a bug. thats the point.

Not sure what you mean there, does the D&D not work (as in the actual copy/move file operation), or only the auto-select part??
Cause in the last case, that's not a bug but how it works: auto-select only works if there are no selection made, otherwise current selection is left untouched.

Oh sorry i meant auto-select doesnt work. And regarding auto-select, I thought it works with every D&D operation, no matter if the destination tab already has a selected file or not. Just checked it with keyboard method too and you are right. Never realised that any selected file would null the auto-select thing. hmmmm but i am wondering why not simply auto-select whatever i paste, no matter what. Would you not find it useful?? i mean, how am i supposed to remember which tab has a selected file or not?? I know, thats my problem. But i am surely missing something.
I like it simple, copy/cut a file, paste it, its selected.

Yeah well, I agree with you, and I'd actually like it too if when I do a Copy/Paste of one file (aka Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V; to get a Copy of...) that new file would get selected. (plus you wouldn't be annoyed if you forgot to unselect the first item on the list or something

)
Don't know how others, including Don, feels about it though. But if there's a vote I'm voting for having items always selected, aka replace any current/already existing selection .

Ok... I had some reason to make it the way it is (keep any selections) but (a) I see your point, (b) forgot my reason, and (c) it would make the code one if-condition smaller

so: I'll change it if I get one more "Go!" and no "Stop!".
