XYplorer Beta Club

I've been an early adopter of the TB 64biti version. I copied my VB version to a new directory (XYplorer TB) and then added the 64bit *.exes. Now there's a 64bit XYcopy which is in the TB directory. I've been using TB exclusively for a few weeks and I feel it's time to give up the 32bit ghost.

I currently have a few shortcuts on my desktop (created with the 32bit version) and when I double-click them they open in the 32bit XY, which is not surprising.

I'm thinking the best way to make the switch is to rename the 32bit XY directory (which is now XYplorer) to something like XYplorer32 and then rename XYplorer TB to XYplorer. That -should- then cause the desktop shortcuts to open in 64, right? Might there be a better way to make the switch?

That's what I did

Seeing as the 32bit will be going into maintenance mode, no reason not to make the 64bit your main Xyplorer\ directory. If you're using absolute paths ( ) in any scripts and such it makes even more sense.

Background: If you use the installer then x64 will be located in "C:\Program Files\XYplorer\", whereas x86 (32-bit) always was, and still can remain, in "C:\Program Files (x86)\XYplorer\".

Go x64 Full-time: If you have set the 32-bit version as default file manager earlier (Configuration | Other | Shell Integration | Default File Manager | XYplorer is default file manager) then you should update this now to the 64-bit version. In the x64 version, simply uncheck "XYplorer is default file manager", then check it again. Done.

I edited my OP to indicate my process for the change-over was with using the Portable version.
