I generally take a backup of ini file for safer side for all the custom settings i made.
with the latest update v26.40.000, many of these settings are getting to default(or changed).
here is the comparisons i made with.
changed settings after latest update.png

As the program evolves, so does the INI file. I wonder why you are wondering about this.

Thanks for the Response.
I totally agree with evolving program will have changes in the settings and configuration w.r.to latest features.
I wonder only for not honoring the custom user settings which are already set by user for some purpose.
My worry part is, if the update is going to change my custom functionality and look which i made for my own usability.
For ex: "ShowCDROMDrives", i really don't need anything out of this. so even with new version as well, why should this be changed.?
Similarly for others as well. dont be bothered about all the differences i show in the screenshot. some of them are even i was not aware of.
But this is something i am not sure if something is going to change my functionality.

Is this a theoretical consideration, or is it about a concrete problem?

The concrete problem is my custom settings are getting changed without my knowledge.
The theoretical problem is, I don't know or I don't have control of what's getting reset or changed with further updates

I don't know
If default settings are changed (esp. for upgraders) it's normally mentioned in the change log

For the differences observed and shared.

You're avoiding giving a straight answer. I'm afraid I'm losing interest. Are you a bot? Just wondering.

Well, I have to say there is a nice list of settings that the op claims have changed with the upgrade in the first post and looking across that list there are quite a few that I wouldn't expect to change with an update, like:
- ShowCDROMDrives
- WatchDevices

I don't get it. Nothing has changed about ShowCDROMDrives and WatchDevices. What are you talking about?
Ah, I get it now. It's not about the keys, it's about the values.
So, so can anybody confirm that all or any of these settings changed with the upgrade to v26.40.000?

Fresh 26.30.0414 instance
Changed ShowCDROMDrives and WatchDevices to 0
Made a copy of the .ini, upgraded to 26.40.000
Saved settings, compared to the copy = No changes to these two values...

Would be interesting to know from which version the OP was upgrading.

Doing the same from an ancient 26.20.0000 changes the values but I have no time to test dozens of versions to see on which one the change actually happens...

Thanks, that's good enough for me to check what's going on.
