issues when searching content

Hi, I'm new to XYPlorer. I'm hoping that I can locate a file just by quoting some text from the contents of the file. I'm using the live filter box and entering my search criteria in 'Find files' > 'Content'. I'm getting partial success but one of the things I can't quite work out is why, for example, it says 'Search done in 736.3ms (1005 files in 93 folder scanned, 776 failed)'. So, Question 1: What are those 776 files and why have they failed? I'm wondering whether it's because some of those files are synced with my OneDrive? Also, Question 2: when applying some of my tests, I've suddenly found lots of my clouds files suddenly start to download - not sure what's going on? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, I'm not sure why you're using the live filter box here, it's not of much use when searching for content.

The failed files and the download are probably two effects of the same cause. To check the content, the files have to be physically present on the local system; if they are only in the cloud, the download is automatically initiated (by Windows). Since this takes some time, most files will register as "failed" on the first try. They will work once the download is complete.

So just to be clear, XYPlorer can't be used from a practical point of view to search file contents when using cloud based syncing. (Assuming the 'Files on demand' is being used i.e. main file stored in cloud, local version shown but only physically pulled down on request.)

Yes. Not only XYplorer. No software can search a file that's not physically present.
