Hi Don,
I just would like to ask if there is any progress / testing of the xyporer "shadow instance"...
I have more and more situation when I really have to wait till xyplorer starts to be unresponsive because one thread is not enought. Last days sample... when I open remotely shared server folder where is too many EXE files with sizes like 200MB+ XYplorer freezes until all icons are loaded. The loading o f the icons is very slow. It is slow also in other file managers, but in them I can move up, down in files / folders or go one level down and I only see how to icons are one by one showed. In xyplorer... I can not move up / down at all and I have to wait, in case I would like to go one folder deeper I have to wait till XYplorer unfreeze. Is nicely visible how other file managers are doing that in another thread. That will be amazing for XYplorer to have the "shadow instance" as was mentioned in some topics in the past. In meantime I have to have set generic icons for network browsing.. but then looking for specific file is sometimes not fun beucase I have to read name instead of just see the icon :)

Not yet.

"I can move up, down in files / folders" ... you mean scrolling the list? This does work while icons are retrieved.

Note that the size of the files is (almost) irrelevant for the speed of icon retrieval, and that only the icons visible in the list are retrieved, not the ones scrolled out of view.

AV OTOH is VERY relevant for the speed of EXE icon retrieval.

Yes, I could not go up/down, use mouse scroll button until all visible icons are loaded. You are right, that if no any files visible, just folders I can move up/down easily. When I move more down and files starts to be visible it starts to be hanging.... When icon files are loaded it is stmooth.. also it is smooth whole session xyplorer is open what I can see. But if xyplorer is closed and open again problem starts again.

I can imagine the AV could be the culprit. But I dont have any way to disabled it. As I mentioned.. it is loaded in all other file managers slowly, so it seems the AV really plays game here... unfortunately I can not disabled it or change myself. Other file managers have another thread for that so the main windows is not affected.
