Pasting Onto A Shortcut

hi!
if i drag/drop a folder or file onto a shortcut, i can copy or move it (as expected). if i copy/cut, the double-click the shortcut to "go to" it's location, i can paste it (as expected).
so far these are normal in XY and every other file manager.
today; however, i was lazy and copied a file to the clipboard and right-click on a shortcut folder and no paste command in the context menu. i tried it in XY, Explorer, DO, etc. and got the same results. apparently you can't do this. never tried before, oh well.
i don't have any issues doing it the conventional way, but would it be something that XY could add (since no one else does) ? i'm guessing XY scripting could plow through it somehow.
basically, copy or cut some thing(s), right-click on a shortcut without actually "going into it" and have the paste ability. if it is already possible, i'm missing something in every file manager that i've tried.
