It looks like a recent Update has switched this on by default and while you can turn it off in a given session (Tools, Customise Tree etc), if you restart XY it is back on again. I would rather have it off and stay off (until I switch it back on).

Cannot confirm. If Tools | Customize Tree | Show Section Colors is off then no colors are shown. It's remembered across sessions.

Now Custom Colors functions OK for me. Not sure what I/it/Windows was doing.
