ODT Preview

Hello Don, in the news to version 24.20.0305 you said:
* Configuration | Preview | Previewed Formats | Category: Preview as Thumbnail:
Removed OpenOffice extensions .odt .ods .odp from the factory defaults. With the
recent version of OpenOffice there is a real preview, not just a thumbnail.
I don't find any news or article about this.
Does is mean it provides a real Explorer preview handler ?
Where did you find the info about it ?

I don't have any information. I installed the latest OO version and it worked. Not with every ODT file though. Did not investigate further.

This is the preview handler for the ones that work. So my statement in change log was wrong. :\
Code: Select all
Previewed Extension: odt
Preview Handler: Microsoft Word-Vorschau [32-bit]
Display Name: Microsoft Word-Vorschau
GUID: {84F66100-FF7C-4FB4-B0C0-02CD7FB668FE}
Initialization: IInitializeWithFile
OS: Windows 8.1 Pro, 64-bit, Build 9600 (6.3), .NET v4.8.03761
Screen Scaling: 100%

That explaines why I didn't find anything about it.
The Word previewer for ODT is known and found on my system
but it doesn't work (may be it need a word installation).
The default in XY only displays a blank black page.

I wonder why some files work with both of these commands, and others don't:
Code: Select all
preview , p32, "{84F66100-FF7C-4FB4-B0C0-02CD7FB668FE}";
preview , p64, "{84F66100-FF7C-4FB4-B0C0-02CD7FB668FE}";

Both produce "Preview failed" for me

Not for me
I have Libre Office and changed the default ODT format to your setting.
Changed one ODT document and saved it.
Also made a new doument.
Still getting "Preview failed" for both tests
and a blank black preview using the preview pane.

I'm satisfied with Libre Office and use a button with Total Commander preview in XY.
This gives a perfect preview for all sort of Office files using the Oracle viewer technology.
