Creating a new folder

Usually when I press Ctrl+N to create a new folder, the new folder shows up in the list ready for me to enter the name, then after a half-second or so, it becomes uneditable -- until I press F2.
This has happened in the last few months; I could swear that formerly in XY when I created a new folder, it sat there and waited for me to enter the name, and did not leave the editable mode, even after several seconds. I wonder what changed.
This is not a big deal, but if there's an option I may have chosen that affects or causes this behavior, I'd like to know what it is.

No, no setting for this.
This happens to me rarely, and I remember complaining about this. But it was so rare that I did not follow it up.
But seems like you can reproduce it everytime and I agree that it is a bit annoying.

I found a way to reproduce this:
1. ctrl+n to create "new folder".
2. hit enter twice (to exit rename mode and to enter "new folder").
3. ctrl+n again to create "new folder" but this time rename mode is gone.

Sorry to say: not for me. Tried this: for both new folders rename-mode is entered!

How to close the rename box:
(1) press Enter, ESC, or TAB, or
(2) shift focus to any other control or app, or
(3) scroll List using wheel or touchpad
So, looking from the code, a self-closing rename box is not possible. I know from my mouse, that it sometimes triggers phantom wheel motions. Could that be the case here?
